Collection for the DEC emergency appeal for Indonesia

There will be an extra special collection at both services at All Saints, Dedworth on Sunday. Please tag 2 or 3 people who are church members so they aware. Many thanks.

Last Friday week, an earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale rocked the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, triggering a terrifying tsunami that reached 18 feet/ 6m in height and left a trail of destruction in its wake.

Tens of thousands of homes have been destroyed and entire communities have been decimated. Up to 1.5 Million People have been affected. More than 1,300 people have died and hundreds of thousands of survivors are now in urgent need of humanitarian assistance – food, water and shelter.

DEC member charities and their Indonesian partners are working closely with national authorities to provide food, clean water, first aid and shelter, while helping survivors to cope with the trauma of the last few days.

As the full scale of devastation unfolds, they are ready to do even more, and with your help, support devastated communities in rebuilding their lives.

Let’s save the survivors. A 400-mile-an-hour tsunami also kills slowly.

Disasters Emergency committee/ DEC appeal has now been launched to coordinate the efforts of charities responding to the Indonesia tsunami appeal for help. It includes ActionAid , British Red CrossCAFODCARE International, Christian AidConcern, Age UKIslamic ReliefOxfamPlan UKSave the ChildrenTearfundWorld Vision
