Our Film Club meets once a month, on the last Friday of the month (apart from December). Film Nights are open to the whole congregation, depending on the classification category of the film being shown.
Come and catch up on some of those films you would like to have seen at the cinema recently and have missed! Enjoy conversation and fellowship during the interval when a light supper and refreshments are served.
Doors open at 7.00pm. Films start at 7.30pm
January 25th Christopher Robin: Ewan McGregor stars as a middle-aged
Christopher Robin, now burdened by a boring, white-collar job that prevents
him from spending quality time with his family. Winne the Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore,
and Tigger venture from Hundred Acre Wood into London to turn his life
around. It’s great for laughs, reminiscing and a few tears.
February 22nd The Wife: The film is based on the novel by Meg Wolitzer. It tells
the story of the long and stormy marriage between a world-famous novelist,
Joe and his wife Joan, and the secret they’ve kept for decades. Joe is about to
receive a prestigious international award to honour his career as a writer. Joan,
who has spent forty years subjugating her own literary talents to fan the
flames of his career, finally decides to stop; a comedy of manners.
March 29th The Old Man and the Gun: The film is based on the true story of
Forrest Tucker (Robert Redford), from his audacious escape from San Quentin
at the age of 70, to an unprecedented string of heists that confounded
authorities and enchanted the public. In pursuit are detective, John Hunt
(Casey Affleck), who becomes captivated with Forrest’s charm and
commitment to his craft, and a woman (Sissy Spacek), who loves him in spite
of his chosen profession. An evening of crime and comedy.
